There was reason to be worried about this year’s Rocktoberfest. Heading into Saturday the forecast called for cold and rain, and heavy rainfall had already caused significant flooding in other communities. Even Saturday morning skies were gray. But the sun came out in the afternoon, and at the Dakota County Fairgrounds the stars came out at night.
Rock superstars Great White put on a great show with Warrant’s Jani Lane handling the lead-vocal duties. The crowd was enthusiastic. The food was good and the weather was just about perfect for a late-September night. Throw in an early-evening performance by Karl and the Country Dutchmen that got the polka-and-waltz crowd up and moving and it was a pretty great night of music all around.
The Rotary Club of Farmington puts a lot of work into making Rocktoberfest happen. It takes contributions from the entire group to make sure every detail is right. We do it to raise money for the contributions we make in Farmington and around the world, but also because we believe events like Rocktoberfest are important for the community. We had a blast. We hope those of you who showed up did, too. We look forward to seeing you all next year.
We’d love to know what you thought of this year’s Rocktoberfest. Did you go to the show? What did you like? What would you like to see changed? And if you didn’t go, what kept you away?
